PROJECT SNAPSHOT:
AMEX-10 LEAK REPAIR AT ASHFORD WATER
TREATMENT WORKS
CLIENT: Thames Water
PMP were recently appointed to undertake two leakage repair projects at Ashford Common WTW.
This is Thames Water's largest asset with a production capacity of up to 500Ml/day.
Routine shut-down internal inspections had revealed leaks on two sections of 1600mm diameter pipelines.
Neither of which could be addressed externally, due to depth underground and encasement. All of the leaks were attributed to failed VJ-type external compression joints.
Amex-10 seals were used to repair leaks on steel pipework adjacent to the contact tank chamber, and also on GRP pipework between the low-lift pumps and screen chambers.
Both jobs were complex-access confined spaces, either due to large vertical drops or restricted access through valves, mixers and dosing furniture.
