Our Response to COVID-19

Further to the Prime Minister’s instructions to the country on Monday 23 March, the majority of the population are now adhering to strict measures that have been put in place by the Government.

The majority of the work we do is in support of the Critical National Infrastructure and cannot be stopped, other projects are routine and will only continue if the client requires this work. We need to maintain a workforce that is able to respond to the requirements of the UK Water Industry and continue to respond to emergency, reactive situations as they arise. With this, we would like to confirm that we have made plans to continue our daily operations with minimal disruption during the COVID-19 outbreak.

We have the option to operate shift systems, if needed. This would offer greater flexibility to our clients in terms of working hours and would also increase the social distancing between our workforce and that of our customers.

Following the recommended social distancing guidelines given by the Government, PMP has quickly implemented new Safe Working Procedures, as well as implementing new appropriate PPE to minimize the risk of contamination and transfer of the virus.

Under these new procedures, our staff will now wear the standard mandatory 5 points of PPE, plus any specialist PPE required to carry out the work e.g. Confined space, rope access, rescue.

PMP has also made it mandatory for all teams that need to work within a 2m radius of one another to also wear their personal face fit tested, Sundstom SR100 masks, incorporating a SR510 P3 cartridge filter. All team members have been made responsible for disinfecting PPE, tools, vans, both prior and post work on site, which will be strictly monitored by managerial staff daily.

Teams will be tested at the beginning of each shift for high temperatures, fever or other symptoms before leaving base. We have the full co-operation of our staff to be as honest as possible and we endeavour to support all our colleagues to the best of our ability during these difficult times. Our business has taken these necessary safety steps to keep ahead of the curve during this outbreak, whilst still being able to maintain a proactive service for our clients’ needs.

For all at PMP Utilities, it’s business as normal, as far as it is reasonable to do so. As a responsible contractor we will not put our colleagues or customers at any unnecessary risk of exposure to COVID-19.

We are here to support our customers during this very difficult time to ensure that the essential water and wastewater network infrastructure is able to keep on working for the benefit of everyone who relies upon it.
