Whilst we are not currently recruiting for engineers, we are always interested in talking to people, particularly those with experience in heavy industrial mechanical engineering and site based operative work.

Typical engineering roles at PMP include:

Fitter’s Mates / Operatives

Operatives / fitter’s mates will be able to support our engineers / fitters whilst on site. You’ll need to be a hands on practical type of person with, ideally, some engineering experience, and be capable of representing the company in a professional and mature manner. You need to be self motivated rather than someone who stands around waiting for instruction.

Experience of working on utility type sites would be advantageous and ideally you’ll have confined space training, Water Hygiene and SHEA water cards.

The role is based out of our Burnley office so a full drivers licence would be helpful and you must be able to commute to the BB11 area daily.

Due to the nature of the clients we work for and the sites we work on, we operate a zero tolerance drug and alcohol policy and every new employee must undergo a D&A test prior to joining the company, with regular ongoing testing.

Mechanical Engineer

Are you interested in mechanical repairs? Are you looking for a predominantly site based role working on heavy industrial equipment? If so we would like to hear from you as we are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer who can fault find, repair and manufacture mechanical plant and machinery.

We work on hydraulics, water hydraulics, Victorian and modern plant and machinery, large diameter valves and pipework fittings, some elements of civil engineering, building, joinery etc, and we need to fault find and provide, sometimes, bespoke solutions to solve problems.

We need someone special – an experienced engineer/fitter/fabricator, mechanic or similar, who is genuinely interested in all mechanical equipment and has a good understanding of all mechanical processes and / or machinery and can work on their own initiative to solve issues.

As a Mechanical Engineer you’ll have an inventive mind and be able to assess a mechanical failure, liaise with the Client to understand the root cause, communicate a solution which will repair the fault and prevent re-occurrence, develop an action plan, manufacture parts, advise on the Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS), supervise the repair and manage the site personnel to carry out the repair safely, on time and on budget.

The Mechanical Engineer role is 90% based out on site with a team, working in tanks, wet wells, dry wells, pumping stations, it is not a steady production line working environment. It will suit someone who thinks that if what they need isn’t available, they’ll make it!

The post is based out of our Burnley headquarters, so the successful candidate must be within daily commuting distance and a full driving license is essential.

Due to the nature of the clients we work for and the sites we work on, we operate a zero tolerance drug and alcohol policy and every new employee must undergo a D&A test prior to joining the company, with regular ongoing testing.

We offer a competitive salary, dependent on experience.
